A yummy way ahead

Daryna Alieksieienko came to Sweden 2 years ago from Ukraine. She and her family fled the war. With only a little packing and nowhere to live, they were helped to find accommodation, and many Swedes helped them with furniture and other things needed in a home.

Daryna is educated in the restaurant world and worked at a restaurant in Ukraine, and she got a job at a restaurant in Åhus. She has always wanted to have her own café, so with saved funds and working extra at the restaurant, she decided to open Mysha Café, which is centrally located at Östra Storgatan 51 in Kristianstad.

Daryna has always been fond of dogs and has a dog herself, which came with her from Ukraine, so she welcomes the café guests with their dogs.

Pastries and food at the café that Daryna bakes and cooks are a combination of Ukrainian and Swedish cuisine.

Aim for success

If you aim to achieve success, it's crucial to familiarise yourself with the language and culture of the host country.

In 2013, Cristina Boldrini Tisci immigrated from Rome along with her husband. Shortly after arriving, she realized the importance of learning Swedish, despite finding it challenging. She enrolled in SFI (Swedish for Immigrants) as well as a basic Swedish language course. To maintain her Italian proficiency alongside Swedish, Cristina teaches Italian to Swedish students. Additionally, apart from language studies, she organizes events focusing on trips to Rome, as well as wine and olive oil tastings. Furthermore, she is employed at the Connection company in Skåne.
